It’s been a lifelong love affair with antiques for Philip and Christine Havard.
Brought up in rural Wales, they both learned to appreciate the beauty and practicality of the Welsh furniture they grew up with.
Philip was born and bred on a Breconshire hill farm and Christine grew up at the celebrated George III Hotel overlooking the beautiful Mawddach estuary.
Christine joined Phillips auctioneers at their Bath office in the early 80`s before moving to Cardiff in 1985 to help set up the new office and saleroom there. Philip joined the team after his time at Southampton gaining his qualifications as an auctioneer, which is how they first met.
Following nearly seven happy years at Phillips, they decided to branch out on their own and opened their shop Havard & Havard in the market town of Cowbridge on St David’s Day, 1992.
Over thirty one years later they continue to deal in the Welsh furniture and objects they have always loved along with complimentary pieces adding variety and broader appeal. They still love placing these pieces of social history in peoples homes, to be cherished by another generation.
